SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer, it is a protocol that creates a secure encryted connnection between you and a website. An SSL certificate is an externally authorised certificate that assures your website visitors that:

The information they provide is encrypted.
The information they provide will be sent to the intended recipient only.
You are who you say you are.

SSL Certificates are essential if you wish to sell products online and where personal details, passwords and credit cards will be entered via your users browser.

Our cPanel hosting cluster now includes the AutoSSL functionality. This allows us to provide free, automated SSL certificates to all accounts on our servers.
